What an ADHD Evaluation Includes
A first visit is a long conversation, not a quick checklist.
Your story first. What brings you in, your history, and your goals — the evaluation starts with understanding you, not a label.
Childhood and adult patterns. ADHD begins in childhood, so the evaluation looks at both past and present: school years, work history, and daily life now.
Questionnaires and rating scales when useful. Standard measures can add structure to the picture, alongside the conversation.
Sorting out look-alikes. Anxiety, depression, and sleep problems can look like ADHD. The evaluation works through what fits and what doesn’t, so the plan treats the right thing.
A plan built with you. Results are discussed openly, and the next steps — including whether medication makes sense — are decided together.
Treatment
Care After the Evaluation
An evaluation is the first step. Ongoing care is where the plan gets adjusted to real life.
01
Medication Management
Thoughtful prescribing, started carefully, monitored closely, and adjusted with you.
02
Follow-Up Care
Follow-ups are for adjusting. What is working, what is not, and what to change — that is the agenda.
03
Practical Strategies
Supportive approaches drawn from CBT, motivational interviewing, and ACT, aimed at daily routines that actually hold.
04
Co-Occurring Concerns
Anxiety, depression, and sleep concerns are common alongside ADHD and are treated as part of the same plan.
Who This Is For
Adults ages 18–64 come in for an ADHD evaluation when they notice patterns like these getting in the way at work, at school, or at home:
Trouble staying focused through tasks or conversations. Losing track of deadlines, appointments, or belongings. Difficulty starting — or finishing — things. Feeling restless, or acting before thinking things through. Time slipping away despite good intentions.
An evaluation can clarify what’s going on, whether or not the answer turns out to be ADHD.
